Strategy & Impact

Strategic Goals For 2030

We want far more green finance moving across borders. To get there, the Centre shapes policy, builds capacity, and brings together people who don't usually sit at the same table.

Key pillars

Five Pillars For The Decade

Pillar 01

Ecosystem Building & Partnerships

We bring the whole ecosystem into the conversation to find the gaps, risks, and openings that matter. We open channels between members and keep people informed through steady education and storytelling. And we play matchmaker, connecting the right resources to the right stakeholders.

Pillar 02

Policy & Regulatory Reform

We work with regulators and financial institutions to spot and close the policy gaps that block investment. We help developing countries build the frameworks and national climate strategies they need, and shape carbon pricing that weighs the real risks, benefits, and local capacity.

Pillar 03

Private Sector Capacity & Mobilization

We push more funding toward climate adaptation and give the private sector a bigger part to play. That means finding where investment lands hardest, designing pipelines of bankable projects aligned with published NDCs and the Paris Agreement, pulling in private money at scale, building de-risking vehicles, and using blended finance to spark new investment.

Pillar 04

International Collaboration & Knowledge

We move knowledge across borders through bilateral and multilateral dialogue with key regions: Asia, the UK, the US, Europe, and South America. We also bring together researchers from academia and the public and private sectors to publish research and reports.

Pillar 05

Accountability, Scoring & Reporting

We build accountability measures and scoring tools that make things transparent and hold financial institutions to their green and net-zero commitments.

Key activities

What The Centre Does, Day To Day

Regulatory Exchange & Policy Development

We run policy dialogue with regulators and local players. We help shape rules that reward green investment and make the wider environment more welcoming to it.

Capacity Building & Technical Advisory

We strengthen the skills of regulators and local private-sector partners so they can build bankable green project pipelines and support resilient local financial systems, green banks, markets, and institutions.

Regional & Global Networking

We connect regional and global institutions through bilateral and multilateral working groups, so knowledge actually gets shared.

Reporting & Index Development

We're building a regional green index based on the quality and depth of green financing activity, plus a scoring and reporting framework that shapes real investment decisions and policy.

Open Data, Research & Knowledge

We publish case studies and lessons with academia and think-tanks for both public and private sectors. We're also building an open-access repository of climate risk data for financial institutions.

Innovation & Technology Transfer

We find and deploy technology that fixes the recurring headaches in green finance: collecting and verifying data, assessing climate risk, and surfacing projects that would otherwise stay invisible.

Green Investment & Lending Facilities

We offer favourable lending, including grants and concessional loans, and run a blended-finance approach through a specialized green fund. Partners co-invest with us in green projects and help make them bankable.

De-Risking Climate Finance

We set up guarantees that improve the risk-return picture for investors. That includes insurance instruments that hedge project and country risk, and development finance guarantees that cover political, regulatory, and currency risk.

Matchmaking With Investors

We build green project pipelines and connect credible, investment-ready projects with financiers, technology partners, and development institutions.

Sustainable Agriculture, Food & Water Security Biodiversity: Land & Ocean Conservation Green Energy: Infrastructure & Access Greening Business: Circular Economy & Value Chains Green Fintech Green Building Waste Management Climate Resilience For Vulnerable Populations

Our climate resilience work protects the livelihoods of people hit hardest by climate disaster: indigenous communities, smallholder farmers, and low-income households.

Impact

A Clear Impact Agenda, Anchored In The Paris Agreement

Everything we do points at one goal: putting the Paris Agreement into practice. We do that by financing green economic activity and building the right policy, regulatory, and investment conditions in the countries that will face the worst of the heatwaves, droughts, and floods.

Increase Climate Resilience

We put finance to work directly through the Centre's investment arm, and we give financial institutions reasons to green their loan portfolios. The result is more green projects and more money for adaptation.

Support Policy Development

We open real dialogue between financial institutions and regulators, so green finance policy and the rules around it actually work.

Drive Private-Sector Engagement

We mobilise green investment, back green private-sector growth, build skills inside financial institutions, and get peers learning from each other across sectors.

Create Economic Opportunity

When capital shifts from polluting industries to green sectors, land and labour move with it. That means steadier growth, fresh revenue for financial institutions, and new jobs.

Address Climate Fragility & Vulnerability

Only about 47% of global climate finance reaches developing-country projects, and most of it lands in a handful of large markets. We work to shift that balance toward the developing south, the region most exposed to climate collapse.
